i feel that balance is being restored

i used to think i didn't like January

but i'm finding it a wonderously quiet time of planning and building a magical hive of activity for a spring transformation

yup - many wheels in motion - buzzing with plans and creativity and getting stuff done

us in our Plague Songs outfits in youth hostel rat in Hyde Park pumpkins large and small in Covent Garden

lots of places - lots of things . . . . photos above show a last minute trip to London via pain of a 13hour megabus journey (the best part of which was a weird insomnia felt and photographing the road and lights giving fun effects - i must post those)

the last minute trip was in order to go to Plague Songs at the Barbican - artists selected to compose a Plague themed song for a film/and the event - very good genre crossover as well as music/art crossover . . .

. . . the people we wanted to see do their songs were > Imogen Heap - Patrick Wolf - Rufus Wainwrignt and June Tabor.............the whole thing was outstanding and suprise star was Damon Albarn at the end - bit indifferent about him i suppose but his song was very good and worked great with kids choir........Imogen had an astounding song - voice was incredible and a beautiful unsusal musical prong plucky thing which sounded great - she also sang with Rufus which was lovely > Patrick did a wonderful theatrical kind of crossover into performance art and looked like a lost sailor who had started to turn into a Mer-person........and there was fake blood at the end too .......and June Tabor was utterly haunting and brilliant

there were those three weddings in September ...........and my awesome trip to Dunfermline and we had to go to Paris ..........and i have loads of new trinket designs so am going to have to upload photos of all of these things too

last week we went to visit Gemma & Damien in Glasgow and go see Patrick Wolf (again) .. . . for some time now i have been trying (i use that term loosly) to give Patrick this letter i wrote him and some trinkets i make him ..........i'm not that geeky really - i'm amazed i had time to do it being that i don't have time to update this etc and my life is some bizarre whirlwind - i guess i just felt really compelled to do it ........anyway - i handed him bag of said stuff on stage not feeling like hanging round the tour bus in hope of being able to say hi and passing it on . . . . a few days later it occured to me - having not been on the forums ever before that maybe there was a bit with recent gig photos (i wanted to know if he liked the jewellery) low and behold he did ^_^ - he's wearing 3 of my items at once (Giraffe round his neck - key on Aqua chain hanging off waistcoat and yellow glitter key hanging off his shorts

i didn't want to make a big deal about it because that's not why i did it ..........but it did make me happy so i thought there'd be no harm posting it here

knackered 0_o accidently went to Mudd club for a bit last night ...........hehe.....must have had lots of alcohol in my system still from Obedience School (stall went pretty well there).........and i had a good night ^_^

Damien babysat me at Obedience School and helped with the stall as Chris is away ........we found this funny little creature i made when i was little at about 5am......i have lots of them around the house..........weirder than say for instance Clementine's potatoe people in Eternal Sunshine............we giggled lots about what if my stall had been entirely these creatures..........i'll have to post a picture for you to get it......hehe

and LAST night Damien AND Gemla babysat me......i'm so lucky ^_^

most MORTIFYING experience EVER 0_o returning cds scenario

......today was a busy day especially after staying up too late and then realising i could't fit in enough sleep in the window of time before i needed to get up.......

.......so off i skipped into town with a list of errands all for

impatientboy i admit i haven't done that much work for him this week so fair enough i carry out the errands........though i had to be at Limousine Bull (in Torry) to invigilate the exhibition by 12noon

*gets into town at 11.35.........dash down crown street to shoe place with Chris's shoes.......across to Central Library to return Chris's hideously late Library cds........dash down Belmont street to Fopp.....*

now Here's where the shit happens..........

Chris got two cds for learning cover songs for Club Sapphire but one was Adam Ant (and my Mum had a better one already) and the other was Elton John (i suspect that that was unecessary because they play so much Elton John in that place while Chris isn'tplaying - cd may have been uneccessary)

I hate returning cds to Fopp ........they always act like you're a fucking pirate EVEN though they have the whole 'suck it and see' policy......i just don't have money to waste on cds i didn't like and wouldn't listen to.........if i like them i keep them.........so i often don't bother buying there so much........but recently when i've been in i've always been served by the same snotty condecending girl and it didn't help considering that today all rushed and a little sweaty from the hot sun and rushing around

so i say 'just got a couple of cds to return'.......she says 'sorry what?' as the music is loud and looks at me like a piece of turd
.........i repeat myself and she asks why (you know in that way like you might as well have just shot Bambi.........okay maybe the wrong parrallel but i'm tired..........) so i say ' My Mum's got them already' which is the short version of the story........they don't want the long one but they still act like your're a criminal with any explanation.........and i'm thinking *what the fuck? they haven't even been taken out of the cellophane!!!?*........and as she takes them from the bag a little shiney slither also emerges and sits on the counter 0_0 . . .

it's the torn of edge of a durex wrapper........a nice shiney pinky red and blue durex wrapper slither 0_0

my little claw like hand speeds across the counter and snaches it away........

......and we continue like nothing has happened : /

so i had to phone Chris and tell him what a little bitch he was for sending me on such a contaminated errand :)

it was actually brilliant to just here his own shocked, mortified.....hillarity filled reaction

yes......it IS quite hilarious........

and he did say i could keep the £10 from the return for my troubles.......hehe

but oh god........as if i enjoyed that girls service anyway......i may never be able to go into Fopp again

unless i know i'm getting something i'll deffinitely keep and i can get served by someone in there who is actually pleasant

i had a laperoscopy yesterday (am a bit sore and drugged up today)

have been having pains and problems for some time now (and really hoping everyone wasn't thinking i was a hypocondriac

anyway.....after 2-3 years of complaining they checked it yesterday and not endometriosis or polycystic ovaries i don't think but......

right ovary fine........free going about it's business.......
left ovary fused itself to my bowel 0_o

would explain pains.......i found out more later.......

how odd and interesting (for me anyway)
and good because i know the right one works.......and the left one might work still :) they doing more checks soon

i've been planning my own online shop for a little while now.......why i didn't think of selling my stuff sooner i'm not sure but i got round to it eventually

i need to do some tweaking and i'm planning to have some lovely things made to my design when i get a little more finance behind me.....so there will be exciting new products soon

Perfume - film review

My favourite book, Perfume - Patrick Suskind .........made into a film.....an amazing book which works in many languages despite being translated from German.
It is indeed the favourite of many, several people i have introduced it to now count it as such and having difficulty with reading it is the only book i have read more than once and one of few i have ever finished.....

I'm going to make a cut ......mostly for those who haven't read the book ......if you've read the book and i tell you about the film i don't think it will really be a spoiler......however if you plan to see the film and haven't read the book.......try to do that first :)

I'll try to make it pretty short and sweet

Overall a fantastic effort very enjoyable and well orchestrated....the great parts will come after my mini complaints (even though they're not concise they are mini)

some expected disappointment at details left out......shortfalls

no priest guy distrubed by Grenouille's lack of scent 'poo pee doo' ....and no explanation of the wet nurse/orphanage keeper having no sense of smell due to the poker face accident .....significant details in terms of others responses to Grenouille.........and covers why no one seems to notice him sneaking around..........to be fair though this is subtley implied..........
......they made adequate mention of the disasters left in Grenouille's wake (like the collapse of Baldini's establishment but it could have been more clearly implied that it was as if Grenoille had affected their luck/destiny
.....the time in the cave is dumbed down and we have no real sense of how long he was there........no purple heart castle visualisation.....it is only then the make the fuss about his lack of scent....and when he reappears no bit where he makes up a human like smell for himself and tells people he was kidnapped (i think that's what happened?)...........
............i also thought there were 25 girls not 13 but i think there may just be some artistic liscense if that if i'm right and it works well anyway
........Though the chap playing Grenouille does a good job .......he isn't really how i imagined him (or how Chris did for that matter) ......we expected smaller eyes.......uglier (especially the younger Grenouille's)........he's a little too simpery and doesn't show enough disgust for humans............
.........don't think they showed enough of a repugnance in other people or smells
......i seem to remember there was a part where Laura's father (the final girl) as well as responding to Grenouille as if he is his son also takes him home to look after etc? could be wrong but that got skipped............to be fair though the movie was 2 and a half hours (though didn't feel that long) and maybe they felt they really had to skip some.....look forward to buying the dvd and checking for deleted scenes

now all the good parts because it was still excellant ..........the birth scene was perfect just as i imagined.....and more...........overall the whole vibe of the movie .............visually in terms of colour and scenary was obcenely close to how i imagined...........Baldini's shop, Laura's house in Grasse........uh......lots of things...........the way they discribed the presence of scent and Grenouille's high sensitivity to it with visuals and music was fabulous and even the scene where he was meant to go to his death was as i imagined!........also the two main girls were well cast and i enjoyed Hoffman and Rickman in the roles of Baldini and Laura's father.........i don't really need to go into great detail about the good bits..........just wanted to give an overview that on the whole it is a great movie which comes close to doing the book justice.......deffinitely worthwhile to go see

Pantomime Costume Time - Big Mama Juke

Hello friends!

Please come see the panto i'm doing costumes for !! (at the Lemon Tree)

My lovely friend Geraldine co-wrote it and it's very funny......

it's called big Mama Juke (and the Lightening Adventures of Neon)

It's set inside an old Juke Box (big Mama Juke) .....and the different parts of the Juke Box are different characters who all come from different music eras..

...hehe....Chris is playing the baddie.....so come and boo him......he's an evil glam rock god called 'Stylus' and is the needle of the record player.....he's got a hilarious Teddy boy sidekick called Limbo .........and there's a princess who everyone wants called Neon (like the lights of the Juke Box).......there's a load of other great chracters but don't want to give too much away.....

i know a panto might not sound ace .....but it is!.......and my costumes will rule too :) .........as will the songs written for the show.......and the light show should be quite grand too..

so yea.....i went to Spain at the end of September........here's a dolphin and a newborn dolphin and me looking a bit like bagpuss on the boat.... ^_^

so here's a magical bit of cave inside Gibraltar.........an Ape on Chris's head and on bebo there's a video of the Ape climbing onto my head :D

James (a very tiny snail on an apple from a tree in our garden) oh and the Patrick Wolf gig we went to was quite quite AWESOME.......an incredibly enigmatic........charismatic force.......very charming and facinating to watch and well played songs of course........deffinitely one to see live going to see CSS soon.........album arrived yesterday :) along with book on dyslexia by Wynford Dore who got the whole exercise program i'm doing off the ground and i made a special mission into Boots today to get blusher for Halloween........okay so i work next door during the week ........why go today........TRIPLE POINTS is why.......and when you end up spending £22 on blusher it's worth it.........i'm dressing as Snow White and feeling a need a doll like fairtale blush anyway and the only truely kitsch and rosey one they had was from Benefit so i threw caution to the wind in other news i'm still organising applying for my teaching post-grad and just writing off to another couple of schools to hopefully have a nice time in their art departments i've also been to the cinema 4 times in the last 2 weeks and seen............The Devil Wears Prada, Click, Marie Antoinette and The Last Kiss .........all recommended for one reason or more..... me in a magical grotty peach room in the lovely Tivoli theatre that we went to visit on it's open day......and Chris working lots..........so this is my only day off this week........trying to get right balance of getting things done and relaxing .........difficult to do........feel guilty for not doing so much artwork etc but i do need to rest as well oh yea......it's deffinitely getting colder........but kinda festive so i like that

it as my work and the work of about 11 other artists

come see it :) at the opening on Wednesday 7-9 pm (day after tomorrow)
it's free to get in and there should be some finger food :D

hehe.......

that makes me sound central but no.....

some of you may already be aware of the Johnny Cash tribute event on at the Lemon Tree...........where some of the best local acts perform their own take on classic Cash songs.....

The Boy Lacks Patience( impatientboy )is doing 4 songs and myself along with 6 other lovely ladies will be a stripy female chain gang ........or really a backing choir.....if all goes to plan......quite a one off experience ......half of us are not the performing type but we thought it would be fun ^_^

other acts are as follows - Union Avenue, Lorenzo Snow Collective with Kathryn Sawyers, Eskimo Blonde, Le Reno Amps, Spider McKenzie and Steve Crawford....and the Big River Band

so if anyone fancies it tickets are £6.75 for students and £10 otherwise..........it's open from 8.30 until 2am so it's also like a club night......we're on around 10pm

also if anyone wants to come but finds it a bit pricey or they're broke.....i have filled my two person guest limit but it's always possible a space might go spare so you could comment me just incase
